THIN LIZZY

A l' initiative de son mentor Phil Lynott ( basse , chant, R.I.P ) , ce groupe fut créé en 1970 en compagnie d' Eric Bell ( guitare , chant) et de Brian Downey (batterie). Les débuts furent difficiles mais ils décrochèrent un hit en 71 grace à la reprise d' un traditionnel irlandais , à savoir Whiskey in the Jar . Ensuite , Eric Bell , incapable de faire face à la pression et surtout dépendant de la dope et de l' alcool , quitta le navire pour être remplacé par Gary Moore . L' ami Gary , soi - disant , ne supporta pas très longtemps les frasques et les excès de Lynott et prit la poudre d'escampette en 74 .
Lynott recruta un fougueux Ecossais , nommé Brian Robertson et un Américain , Scott Gorham , avec lesquels , le groupe se permit de publier ses meilleurs albums : Nightlife (74) , Fighting (75) , Jailbreak (76: avec notamment le hit The Boys are back in town) , Johnny the Fox ( 76) , Bad reputation (77) , Live and dangerous (78 : élu meilleur album live de tous les temps selon la très sérieuse revue Classic Rock ) . Black rose (79) voit le retour de Gary Moore, mais ce dernier se rend très vite compte que le groupe , en termes d' excès , n' a pas bougé d' un iota . Il part aussitôt pour être remplacé par Snowy White et renforcé par un clavier , Darren Wharton. En leur compagnie , le groupe publiera 2 albums éclectiques , Chinatown (80) et Renegade ( 81) .
Cependant , White ne se sent pas à l' aise au sein du combo qu ' il quitte en 1982 . Lynott , grand découvreur de talents ( notamment Mama's Boys) , déniche John Sykes qui, à l' époque ,officie au sein d' un groupe de NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) à savoir Tygers of Pan Tang . Le jeune prodige s' embarque dans l' aventure Lizzy pour un album Thunder an Lightning (83) et une tournée d' adieu ( car Lynott est épuisé et surtout dépendant de substances illicites ) qui donnera lieu à un double album live intitulé Life .
Après un concert à Nuremberg , le 4 septembre 1983 , le groupe se sépare en bons termes .
Lynott continuera sa carrière en compagnie de Sykes ( The Three Musketeers ) , effectuera des tournées surtout scandinaves .
L' échec de son projet , Grand Slam fut fatal quant au moral du grand Phil et contribua , de fait à l' accélération dans le processus de déchéance (Lynott se piquait par les pieds : ni vu , ni connu ) . Drogue , divorce achèveront cet homme au talent immense qui s' éteindra le 4 janvier 1986 à l' hopital de Salisbury .
En 94 , le groupe se reforme pour effectuer une tournée japonaise triomphale . Cependant , la motivation pour réaliser un album studio n'est pas au rendez- vous . Par conséquent , depuis , le groupe ne cesse de tourner , et a publié un album live intitulé One night only en 2000 . Tournées incessantes et festivals sont le lot du groupe pour l' instant . Wait and see .

Belle rétrospective ! Je ne connaissais pas toute l'histoire de ce groupe auquel je me suis surtout intéressé à l'époque de Jailbreak et Johnny The Fox... Donc surtout à cause du duo Brian Robertson et Scott Gorham.
J'ai un bon souvenir d'un concert à Lille ( j'ai d'ailleurs une photo de moi avec Scott Gorham backstage , quand j'étais jeune... ).

Malheureusement, bien que je m'efforçais de garder mes tickets de concerts de l'époque, je ne vois pas celui-là !!!

THIN LIZZY's seminal double live album "Live & Dangerous" is consistently featured in polls as one of the greatest live albums of all time. Yet it is not really a live record at all as it features overdubs and post-production across the album. March 2, 2009 sees the release of the "Still Dangerous", the real "Live & Dangerous"!

"Still Dangerous" is the raw, unadulterated, untouched sound of THIN LIZZY at the absolute height of its powers. Recorded on the band's sold-out 1977 "Bad Reputation" tour, "Still Dangerous" captures the classic quartet of Lynott, Downey, Gorham and Robertson on fire at the celebrated Tower Theatre in Philadelphia.

The album features tracks that never made the "Live & Dangerous" release and all cuts are previously unreleased. The album was mixed by the legendary Glyn Johns (THE ROLLING STONES, THE WHO, THE EAGLES, LED ZEPPELIN), with contributions from Scott Gorham and Brian Downey.

"Still Dangerous" is the definitive live statement from one of rock's most revered and enduring groups. The recordings that make up "Still Dangerous" were discovered by accident in an overlooked band lockup — a happy accident for THIN LIZZY fans and music fans in general as it is set to become an essential addition to the legacy of one of rocks greatest ever acts. The album is fully endorsed by Phil Lynott's estate and the band.

"Still Dangerous" is the first release on the Thin Lizzy Productions label (distributed by Proper Music Distribution).

Je viens de l'avoir... Ca a l'air très bon !

C'est Live And Dangerous, le double LP de 1978 de Thin Lizzy, qui a été élu meilleur album live de tous les temps par les auditeurs de Planet Rock.
